I happily describe myself as a calligrapher and surface pattern maker.
I consider what I do to be firmly in the realm of Craft rather than Art.
From childhood, I have always loved pattern, motif and detail and,
before becoming a calligrapher, was an enthusiastic doodler, museum visitor and daydreamer.
I think there is great romance in the idea of designs and creative traces being left behind by people long, long gone,
but who still hold a presence in our lives through everyday objects and in the world around us; just quietly waiting to be noticed and picked up like a conversational relay through time.
